I recently had the opportunity to create and plan a styled wedding photoshoot in Miami. The assignment was to come up with a wedding concept that had a European feel right here in the United States. As a wedding photographer who loves to blend vintage charm with a modern feel, I wanted to highlight Miami’s old-world meets lush, tropical outdoor vibe. Ultimately, I knew we needed a historic outdoor wedding venue in Miami, and Villa Woodbine was the PERFECT place.

Villa woodbine is the perfect outdoor Miami wedding venue for a couple who appreciates a tropical, vintage wedding vibe in a lush, tropical setting. If you love Spanish archways, tropical greenery, and a Cuban inspired feel, you are in the right place. The old stone-work flooring in the courtyard made the perfect backdrop for these trendy, embroidered lace wedding invitations, and the tiered fountain transported our couple back in time. The surroundings give a timeless, vintage-meets-modern photo opportunity. It’s this very style that meshes so perfectly with my filmy, editorial wedding photography style.

For the overall color scheme, I chose shades of red as a bold pop of color for this historic outdoor wedding venue in Miami. There was already a lush green backdrop and neutral stone work that the reds would really contrast. I also wanted to highlight some upcoming wedding trends for this year including embroidery, lace, and creative tablescape. The burgundy napkins on the table, hand-crafted terracotta pottery, vintage champagne glasses, and red peppers all yielded to a modern meets vintage feel. The embroidered invites looked beautiful against the stone in the courtyard.
We did an abstract lace ceremony draping for a vintage feature mixed with tulle floating ghost chairs for the modern twist. When it comes to florals, I always opt for florals that are fun, with lots of movement, and fashion-forward design. Lastly, to really tie this look together, we had a red velvet lounge set from a Miami rental company that complimented perfectly.
